Nylon is also called polyamide (PA), and chemical fiber is called nylon, which is the first synthetic fiber in the world. The appearance of nylon has brought a new look to textiles. Its synthesis is a major breakthrough in the synthetic fiber industry and a very important milestone in engineering plastics.
The most widely used nylons are nylon 6 and nylon 66.
Nylon 6 (PA6) is polymerized from caprolactam, so it is also called polycaprolactam. The chemical structural formula of its long-chain molecule is:
H-[NH(CH2)5CO]-OH.
Nylon 66 (PA66) is obtained by the polymerization of hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid, so it is also called polyhexamethylene adipate. The chemical structural formula of its long-chain molecule is:
H-[HN(CH2)5NHCO(CH2)5CO]-OH
The advantage of nylon
*Excellent mechanical properties: good rigidity, hardness and toughness.
* First-class wear resistance, self-lubrication, low friction loss.
*Good temperature resistance, can also withstand high temperature under pressure.
*Chemical resistance.
* Flame retardant performance and self-extinguishing, natural V-2 flame retardant.
*Good electrical insulation performance.
*Good weather resistance, good anti-aging properties.
*Easy processing, easy dyeing, low energy consumption production.
*Light weight and feel good.
* Good gloss and transparency.
*100% recyclable, more environmentally friendly.
